Not a trade but a rant
Why do the writers of this site constantly write about Phil Hughes like he’s the hot high-school cheerleader that broke their heart? Get over it. He’s not going to be the ace you dreamed he was going to be when he was drafted and then dominated the minors. He had the same abbreviated minor-league career and to-the-bullpen-to-the-rotation nonsense you use as an excuse for Joba every day (and didn’t pitch in college, as Joba did). Now apparently he’s the ‘guy who might not suck as a reliever,” though you most likely know he was historic in his one long stint as a reliever and effective in all other stops in the bullpen. In fact, he probably has the stuff to be a closer, and could very easily take over for Mo, since he can blow his fastball by any hitter and has better-than-decent control. I’ve never understood ! the reaction by RABers to Hughes — you’ve loved him too much and now you hate him too much. The best thing for him would be a trip to another city, somewhere out of the AL East, where he could just be another good-but-not-close-to-great pitcher who isn’t judged on every pitch he throws.
Maybe they’ll throw in Iglesias too
Here’s an idea: trade Soriano to Boston. I think they just might be desperate enough. Hell, we could probably ask for Lavarnway in return.
A winter swap
What about a Curtis Granderson for Brian McCann deal or something like a Granderson and Nova for Lincecum and Brandon Belt this offseason?
How about it?
Nationals looking for CF - how about Gardner for rendon (mid-term repl. for AR), lombardozzi (UIF)+ Bernardina (repl. for Gardner).
Given Braves need for SS trade Nunez + Swisher + some more pieces (Bernardina) for Heyward.
Use excess pitching (e.g. Hughes) to acquire D. Brown from Phillies.
Yankees OF: Brown-Granderson-Heyward
Because the four other in-house options aren’t enough
If Mo retires at the end of the year and Cashman isn’t satisfied with our current in-house options, could you see him trading for Joakim Soria?
Bring on the youth movement
Not sure why we signed Chavez to a major league deal, he’s only going to get hurt for three month’s again? Besides, we have Laird, Nunez, Pena & Mustelier…I would love to see some of the youngsters get a shot?
Only if you don’t care about the ‘hitter’ part of DH
Would Aubrey Huff and James Loney be targets for DH?
‘I lived thru the 60’s
I who have been a Yankee fan since the 50s am worried. They remind me too much of the winter of 65 team. with new draft rules, they should be signing everyone in sight.every day I see another Dominican signed by another team. When we should spend,we sing poverty. I lived thru the late 60s. The cubs can be loveable and lose. Who wants to see a .500 Yankee team.
All of the range
In a fantasy world where the Orioles could conceivably move Nick Markakis to centerfield and the Yankees felt the need to make trades for the sake of making trades… how close does Nick Swisher, Dellin Betances, and Adam Warren get us to a trade for Adam Jones? Imagine that outfield with 3 centerfielders with plus plus range.
Again in September if the Yankees are singing that same old song PITCHING; Cashman should be shown the door. Enough is enough; his savior the Boss is gone and it might be time to move on! Remember GMs fire themselves and Cashman has do a very go job at it!
